If you're getting married in Los Angeles County, you’ll need to bring the right ID to apply for your marriage license.

What ID Do You Need for a Marriage License?
Accepted IDs:
All IDs must be valid and not expired. Accepted forms of identification include:
Driver’s License (any U.S. state)
State ID Card (any U.S. state)
U.S. Passport or Passport Card
Passport from any other country
(If it’s not in English, bring a notarized English translation. Expired passports are not accepted—even if the visa is valid.)Military ID or Military Dependent ID
Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
Certificate of Naturalization
Matricula Consular ID
No birth certificate needed if from: Mexico, Argentina, Peru, or Korea
All other countries: birth certificate must be translated, notarized, and have an apostille
Mexican National Electoral Card
Identification Card issued by another country’s government
(May require a birth certificate and translation if not in English)

Social Security Card
Employment Authorization Card (EAD)
Border Crossing Card
B1/B2 Tourist Visa
Expired Passport (even with valid visa)
