Acceptable Forms of Identification for a Marriage License
Reference: Los Angeles Marriage Department rules and regulations
Acceptable forms of Identification must have a photograph and birth date
State Driver’s License or State Identification Card.
Military Service ID (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard) or Military Dependent Identification Card
Mexican National Electoral Card
Any Country’s Driver’s License or Identification Card.
Note: if ID does not have date of birth, a birth certificate is required)
Passport or Passport Card (US)
Note: If Passport is not in English, translation is required and must be notarized.
If Passport is expired but Visa is valid, it is NOT acceptable.
Permanent Registration Alien Card or Certificate of Naturalization
Border Crossing card is NOT acceptable
Matricula Consular: for Argentina, Mexico, Peru and Korea
For these countries, a Birth Certificate is NOT required
Consular Card: for all other countries
Note: requires a birth certificate (Translated/Notarized with apostille, if not in English)
Identification Card issued by the U.S. Government or Identification Card issued by another country
